TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Weather expert Daniel Wu (吳德榮) warned on Wednesday (May 22) of potential brief local showers or thunderstorms across Taiwan from now until Friday, urging the public to be vigilant of severe weather conditions in the afternoon.

Wu further noted that weather conditions will gradually improve from May 25 to 27. However, it will remain hot with occasional local showers or thunderstorms due to a weakening stationary front and a shift in the southwest wind.

Wu elaborated that another mobile front moving southward on May 28 will bring showers or thunderstorms nationwide, possibly accompanied by "mesoscale convective systems" and a chance of "localized severe weather" such as lightning strikes, strong winds, and sudden heavy rain.

Additionally, Wu pointed out that the latest European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) ensemble model simulation for the evening of May 27 indicates a 20% chance of a mild typhoon forming east of Luzon Island.
