TAIPEI (TVBS News) — After receiving a death threat related to her new role as the chairperson of Taipei 101, entertainer and businesswoman Janet Chia (賈永婕) urged people to exercise caution online and avoid illegal speech on Monday (Sept. 23).

Chia addressed the death threat at an event earlier that day, emphasizing that such actions constitute criminal behavior and hoping time will prove those who doubt her ability wrong.

Chia said she handed the death threat to the police immediately. She publicly urged, "Although people feel free to speak online, I want to remind everyone not to test the law; illegal speech is a criminal act."

Since taking over as chairperson in September, she faced immediate controversies. At her inaugural press conference, she commented on her responsibility for beauty and fashion, which drew criticism.

Meanwhile, Chia shared that her new role has significantly changed her daily routine. She no longer sleeps until 9 or 10 a.m., averaging only six hours of sleep. She mentioned, "Every day is a challenge, and there are new things every day," and she attempts to handle these issues using her past experiences.
