TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei District Prosecutor's Office (台北地檢署) continues its investigation into the Core Pacific Group's (威京集團) redevelopment scandal, and summoned the group's chairman for the fourth time on Wednesday (Sept. 25) afternoon.

Authorities brought Core Pacific Group Chairman Sheen Ching-jing (沈慶京) to the office around 1 p.m. in a prison van. Due to mobility issues, Sheen remained seated in a wheelchair as bailiffs escorted him into the investigation room.

He did not respond to media questions, including when asked about money allegedly taken to Macau by his driver.

Earlier that day, prosecutors summoned former Taipei deputy mayor Peng Cheng-sheng (彭振聲) at 9 a.m. for further questioning about the decision-making process behind the land use. At 9:20 a.m., a prison van brought Peng, who remained silent and wore a jacket, to the prosecutor's office.

Since late August, the prosecutor's office has conducted searches and interviews, leading to the detention of several high-profile figures, including former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲), Peng, Sheen, Taipei City Councilor Angela Ying (應曉薇), and Ying's assistant Wu Shun-min (吳順民).

Prosecutors have intensified their questioning of the detained suspects to investigate allegations of bribery and profiteering over the past months.
