TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Consumers' Foundation (消費者文教基金會) criticized the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC, 交通部) on Thursday (Oct. 17) for hastily organizing a meeting to discuss a draft proposal on delivery service pricing.

The meeting, which was scheduled to explore reasonable pricing guidelines, including potential waiting and floor fees, sparked controversy due to its short notice. The foundation expressed dissatisfaction with the rushed notification, stating the ministry informed them on Wednesday at 5 p.m. of the meeting scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m.

They questioned the ministry's intentions, accusing it of excluding consumer groups from the discussion. The foundation emphasized the importance of consensus among industry, government, academia, and consumer groups on pricing policies for emerging delivery services.

The Consumers' Foundation urged the ministry to thoroughly gather public opinion and formulate policies that balance the interests of the industry, workers, and consumers. They stressed the need for comprehensive dialogue to ensure the welfare of all parties involved.
