TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of National Defense (MND, 國防部) reported a data leak on Monday (Oct. 21) involving personal data of high-ranking officials, including Minister Wellington Li-Hsiung Koo (顧立雄), and Military Intelligence Bureau (軍情局) personnel.

The breach occurred after the Ethics Office (政風室) sent a list of military personnel's property declarations to the managing units on Oct. 15, revealing sensitive identities. The MND said the list contained only the agency, job title, name, and declaration year, excluding personal deposits, real estate, and investments.

To mitigate risks, the MND instructed units to return documents via the official system, pledging to review responsibilities and enhance document processing and control to prevent future incidents. According to China Times (中時新聞網), the Ethics Office emailed the list to declarants and unit affiliates, potentially exposing intelligence officers and endangering their safety.
