TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei International Electronics Industry Technology Exhibition (TAITRONICS, 國際電子產業科技展) and AIoT Taiwan (台灣國際人工智慧暨物聯網展) commenced its 50th edition on Wednesday (Oct. 23). This three-day event, themed "AInnovation Now,"  highlights breakthroughs in artificial intelligence applications, low-orbit satellites, startups, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Held at the Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, the exhibition underscores the integration of AI technology with swarm control in UAVs. Taiwan Swarm Innovation Inc. (臺灣希望創新) CEO Li Chih-ching (李志清) detailed the use of UAVs equipped with thermal imaging cameras for pipeline inspections, stating, "We use them to detect leaks. The aircraft's brain, NVIDIA's embedded computer, processes images to identify temperature changes and potential leaks."

"This AI-driven detection capability represents a substantial leap forward in UAV technology," Li added. Taiwan Defense Association (台灣防禦協會) Chairman Chen Yen-ting (陳彥廷) also stressed the need for extensive UAV testing in Taiwan. He pointed out that UAV applications involve AI software, target recognition, and flight control software, all necessitating rigorous testing.

"Taiwan needs more testing spaces and opportunities since the stability and reliability of UAVs rely on continuous trial and error," Chen continued. Marking a milestone, the exhibition celebrates its 50th anniversary since its inception in 1974. Richard Lee (李詩欽), chairman of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA, 電電公會), announced plans to evolve the event into an AI innovation application exhibition by 2025.
