TAIPEI (TVBS News) — My Formosa (美麗島電子報) released a new national survey on Monday (Oct. 28), revealing that President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) has reached a record-high 'distrust' level of 39.7% since taking office in May.

The survey, conducted between Oct. 22-24, shows a 1.5 percentage point increase in trust from the previous month to 54%, with 18.3% of respondents expressing strong trust and 35.7% indicating moderate trust.

The poll highlights a simultaneous rise in distrust, which climbed to 39.7%, up 1.4 percentage points from last month. Among the respondents, 19.9% reported strong distrust, while 19.8% expressed slight distrust. Despite this increase, President Lai's trust level has consistently remained above 52% since his inauguration, although his distrust level has risen from around 32% to its current rate.

In terms of satisfaction with President Lai's governance, the survey indicates a satisfaction rate of 52.9%, marking a 2.1 percentage point increase. Of those surveyed, 13.3% are very satisfied, and 39.6% are somewhat satisfied. Dissatisfaction slightly decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 38.5%, with 18.7% of respondents very dissatisfied and 19.8% somewhat dissatisfied.

The survey successfully interviewed 1,077 people, with the maximum sampling error standing at ±3.0%. As President Lai's administration navigates these fluctuating public sentiments, future policy decisions and public engagements may influence these metrics further.
