TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Yinxing (銀杏) formed on Monday (Nov. 4) and is expected to intensify into a moderate typhoon, with its closest approach to Taiwan anticipated on Friday and Saturday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署).

Currently situated at 12.2 degrees north latitude and 133.4 degrees east longitude, the typhoon is moving northwest at 32 kph as of early Monday. It is forecast to gradually strengthen and approach Luzon Island on Wednesday, though its future path remains uncertain.

International forecasts indicate that Typhoon Yinxing may traverse the Bashi Channel, with possible adjustments north or south, or make landfall on Luzon Island. Meteorologists have noted that the northeast monsoon will start affecting the region by Monday evening and continue until Nov. 7, leading to expected rainfall from Nov. 8 to 10.

Rainfall is anticipated along the northern coast of Keelung (基隆), Greater Taipei (大台北), and Yilan (宜蘭). On Nov. 5 and 6, northern and northeastern Taiwan could experience localized heavy rain, and temperatures in these areas will progressively drop, with nighttime and early morning lows potentially falling below 20 degrees Celsius from Nov. 5 to 7.

Residents are advised to stay informed about weather updates as conditions develop, particularly with the typhoon's unpredictable trajectory and the anticipated monsoon impact.
