TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported Tuesday (Nov. 5) that Tropical Storm Yinxing (銀杏) has the potential to strengthen into a moderate typhoon, though its direct impact on Taiwan remains unlikely. According to the CWA, Yinxing was positioned 1,140 kilometers southeast of Eluanbi (鵝鑾鼻), and the storm moved northwest early Tuesday morning.

The northeast monsoon also intensified, which will cause brief rain in northern and eastern regions on Tuesday, with a higher chance of precipitation in areas north of Taoyuan, Yilan, and Hualien.

Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) noted the northeast monsoon's influence has lowered temperatures in northern Taiwan, making it slightly cool and damp, while the central and southern regions remain warm during the day and cool in the mornings and evenings.

Temperatures range from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius in the north, 20 to 30 degrees in the central region, 21 to 32 degrees in the south, and 19 to 30 degrees in the east.

From Tuesday to Thursday, the northeast monsoon will bring cooler weather to the north and northeast, with occasional rain in the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions, while other areas will experience mostly cloudy to clear skies.

Wu mentioned that on Wednesday and Thursday, the monsoon will become slightly drier, resulting in cloudy skies with occasional rain on the north coast, northeast, and eastern regions, while the leeward side remains sunny and stable.

Upcoming days, Friday to Sunday will see the typhoon's outer cloud system and the northeast monsoon affecting the north and northeast with cooler weather and potential localized heavy rain on the Keelung north coast, northeast, east, and the Greater Taipei mountain areas. Central and southern mountain areas might experience brief showers.
