TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) reported on Tuesday (Nov. 5) that Typhoon Yinxing, currently situated 1,140 kilometers southeast of Eluanbi (鵝鑾鼻), is moving northwest at 26 kph and may intensify into a moderate typhoon.

Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) warned that Yinxing would likely approach Luzon in the Philippines and pass through the Bashi Channel, a waterway that separates Taiwan from the Philippines. He cautioned that the typhoon's path could interact with the northeast monsoon, potentially causing significant rainfall in northern and northeastern regions.

Former CWA director Daniel Wu (吳德榮) noted that while the likelihood of Yinxing directly hitting Taiwan remains low, the interaction with the northeast monsoon warrants close monitoring for further intensification.

The CWA advised that although the typhoon is expected to pass north of Luzon and enter the South China Sea, the direct impact on Taiwan is minimal, with a low chance of issuing a sea warning. However, from Friday through Sunday, northern and eastern areas may experience indirect effects, including brief showers. The Keelung North Coast (基隆北海岸), Yilan,(宜蘭), Hualien (花蓮), and the Greater Taipei (大台北) mountain area could see localized heavy rain.

Residents should remain vigilant and prepare for possible weather changes as the situation develops. Authorities urge the public to stay informed on Typhoon Yinxing's progression and potential impacts.
