TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of National Defense's (MND, 國防部) Army Command Headquarters (陸軍司令部) explained on Monday (Nov. 4) evening that their counter-drone systems will only interfere when detecting enemy drone incursions, ensuring no disruption to airport navigation aids and communication equipment.

This statement followed media reports suggesting potential interference with civilian airport communications on outlying islands. Mirror Media (鏡週刊) had also reported allegations of favoritism in the bidding process for the counter-drone systems, raising concerns over transparency.

In response, the Army Command Headquarters emphasized that the specifications in any of the three bidding processes have not been altered since the initial announcement of the system's conceptual verification scenarios and scoring criteria on April 29, 2024.

The Army stressed that the bidding content remains public information, inviting participation from unspecified manufacturers for the conceptual verification.

The Army Command urged media outlets to fulfill their responsibility as societal watchdogs by carefully verifying information to prevent misleading the public. They highlighted the importance of avoiding reliance on erroneous sources that could distort public perception.

As this situation unfolds, the Army's call for accurate reporting underscores the need for vigilance in media practices. The implications for national security and public trust remain significant, and further developments are anticipated as the bidding process continues.
