TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan braces for wet weather as the northeast monsoon continues affecting the northern and eastern regions, raising the likelihood of rain in areas from Taoyuan northward, as well as Yilan and Hualien, on Wednesday (Nov. 6), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署).

The Keelung north coast and the greater Taipei mountain area may experience heavier rains. At the same time, other regions, including Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, are expected to remain mostly cloudy to sunny.

CWA reports that morning and evening low temperatures across Taiwan will hover around 20 to 22 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs ranging from 20 to 25 degrees in the northern, northeastern, and eastern parts and reaching up to 28 to 29 degrees in the central, southern, and southeastern regions.

Strong northeast winds may bring gusts of 9 to 10 on the Beaufort scale to coastal areas from Taoyuan to Yunlin, Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), Green Island (綠島), Orchid Island (蘭嶼), Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu.

Keelung's north coast, Chiayi, Tainan, and the eastern coastal and northern areas may also experience stronger gusts. Particularly severe gusts of 10 to 11 are expected along the coastal regions from Miaoli to Changhua.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Yinxing, 640 kilometers southeast of Eluanbi (鵝鑾鼻) as of 2 a.m., is moving west-northwest toward the South China Sea. It is unlikely to impact Taiwan directly but has an uncertain path.
