TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The head of the National Security Bureau (國安局) emphasized on Wednesday (Nov. 6) that the policy path of supporting Taiwan while countering China will persist regardless of the U.S. presidential election outcome. Director-general Tsai Ming-yen (蔡明彥), speaking before a legislative session, highlighted that the election results present a new situation for international relations and U.S.-Taiwan ties.

Tsai assured that Taiwan will maintain its strategic communication with the current and incoming administrations. He stressed that Taiwan plans to focus on defense, economic, and supply chain cooperation in its next partnership with the U.S. The bureau aims to strengthen intelligence exchanges with international allies during the U.S. government transition, particularly concerning China's political intentions and military activities.

Tsai noted that during the U.S. election, China's cognitive warfare shifted to cast doubt on the necessity of U.S.-Taiwan cooperation and arms sales. The director-general stated that the National Security Bureau will continue to monitor controversial messages from China to prevent them from affecting Taiwan's cooperation with allies and maintain a pure public opinion sphere.
