TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Economic Minister J. W. Kuo (郭智輝) announced Wednesday (Nov. 6) that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, 台積電) will host a "great ceremony" in December. Speculation suggests the event may mark the completion of TSMC's first wafer plant in Arizona, though the company has not confirmed these reports yet.

Minister of the National Development Council (國家發展委員會) Liu Chin-ching (劉鏡清) plans to attend TSMC's board meeting in the U.S. in February. Liu expressed optimism about securing subsidies from the U.S. CHIPS Act, stating that TSMC has yet to reach the milestone for invoicing; as long as the regulations remain unchanged, receiving the subsidy should be no issue.

During a special report to the Economics Committee (立法院經濟委員會), various government agencies, including the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA, 經濟部), addressed concerns about the U.S. presidential election and its implications for Taiwan.
