TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Presidential Office emphasized on Thursday (Nov. 7) strong bipartisan support for Taiwan regardless of the ruling party in the U.S. Following U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's victory a day earlier, Presidential Office Spokesperson Karen Kuo (郭雅慧) highlighted shared democratic values and freedoms as the foundation of the Taiwan-U.S. relationship.

Trump's win has sparked discussions about the future of Taiwan-U.S. relations with many expressing concern after Trump's previous suggestion of charging Taiwan a "protection fee." However, Kuo pointed out that President Lai Ching-te views Taiwan-U.S. relations as "rock-solid" and aims to collaborate with Taiwan's most important partner.

Regarding sending a delegation to the U.S. inauguration, Kuo confirmed that specific plans are in place and will be communicated to the public. As Taiwan navigates this new chapter in its relationship with the U.S., the focus remains on maintaining strong ties based on mutual values.
