TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan is experiencing increased moisture on Friday (Nov. 8) due to the northeast monsoon and the peripheral cloud system of a nearby typhoon, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署), which issued a heavy rain advisory for the Yilan (宜蘭) area. Rain is expected from Taoyuan (桃園) northward, in the eastern regions, and on the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), the CWA said.

Lin Hsiao-ju (林孝儒), an analyst at WeatherRisk (天氣風險公司), also noted the persistent cloudy conditions and brief showers in the windward northern and eastern areas due to the northeast monsoon. Lin predicted cooler temperatures, with highs around 24-25 degrees Celsius and lows between 18-21 degrees Celsius.

He added that in the central and southern regions, the influence of typhoon clouds moving northward will lead to increased cloud cover, with mostly cloudy or overcast skies and isolated mountain showers. The weekend will bring a weakening of the northeast monsoon and a reduction in southern cloud cover as the typhoon moves away. Forecasters expect improved weather and rising temperatures across Taiwan.

Northern and eastern regions will see mostly cloudy skies with brief showers, but the rain's impact will lessen, with highs predicted at 27-30°C and lows at 22-24°C. Central and southern areas will enjoy stable weather, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions, highs of 29-32°C, and lows of 22-25°C.
