TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's national security officials did not confirm President Lai Ching-te's (賴清德) diplomatic visit at the end of November or early December, with a transit through Hawaii on Thursday (Nov. 14). They stated that any diplomatic travels would proceed as scheduled without surprises and that they would report to the public at the right timing.

Rumors suggest President Lai's first overseas trip will focus on the South Pacific islands, avoiding Central and South America due to the ongoing U.S. government transition period. By choosing the South Pacific route, Lai aims to bypass potential scheduling conflicts with U.S. cities on the East and West Coasts.

National security sources have not confirmed the visit, emphasizing that President Lai will closely monitor developments around the U.S. elections and other significant elections worldwide. They plan to assess how these events might impact Taiwan's international relations and strategize accordingly. The government remains committed to not discussing individual countries' political arrangements, focusing instead on consistent and effective diplomatic efforts.

Officials reiterated that Taiwan's diplomatic personnel have demonstrated exceptional performance over the years. They stressed that presidential diplomacy and visits will continue as planned, with mutual understanding between involved parties ensuring no unexpected developments. As the situation evolves, the public can expect further updates on President Lai's potential diplomatic endeavors.
