TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The son of a former high-ranking Chinese Communist Party (CCP, 中國共產黨) official secretly arrived in Taiwan on Friday (Nov. 15), preparing to marry a member of a prominent family from Yilan. Bo Guagua (薄瓜瓜), son of former CCP official Bo Xilai (薄熙來), arrived in Taiwan to marry the granddaughter of the founder of Lotung Poh-Ai Hospital (羅東博愛醫院) Hsu Wen-cheng (許文政).

He visited her family and underwent a health check at Lotung Poh-Ai Hospital. Bo's identity has drawn significant attention from Taiwan's national security agencies, which maintain strict surveillance throughout his stay. The Hsu family has chosen to remain discreet about the upcoming wedding. When approached by reporters, they declined to comment further.

Bo met his fiancee during their studies abroad.

Bo studied in the U.K. from age 11 and graduated from Oxford University in 2010. He earned a master's degree in public policy from Harvard University's Kennedy School in 2012. Bo Xilai, once a formidable contender against Xi Jinping (習近平), was imprisoned in 2013 in Beijing after being charged with bribery, corruption, and abuse of power.
