TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL, 中華職業棒球大聯盟) president and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) legislator announced Monday (Nov. 18) that he has contacted the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC, 交通部) to increase flight capacity through chartered or larger planes.

This move aims to help fans support the team in Japan after Taiwan's victory over Australia the day before, securing a spot in the semifinals in Tokyo. Transportation Minister Chen Shih-kai (陳世凱) noted that booking rates have continued to rise on Monday, and the ministry will strive to increase flight availability.

CPBL President and DPP Legislator Tsai Chi-chang (蔡其昌) emphasized the need to coordinate with Japanese airports to ensure smooth flight arrangements and called on other airlines to assist in adding flights.

He also requested that the Ministry of Education (MOE, 教育部) help coordinate ticket purchases with the Japanese organizers, ensuring clear information on ticket availability. However, securing flight tickets remains a priority. Tsai revealed that tickets for the Taiwan-Japan match have sold out, but fans still have a chance to purchase tickets for the Venezuela-U.S. game.

He highlighted that cheerleading is a unique aspect of Taiwanese culture, yet Tokyo Dome prohibits loudspeakers and lacks a cheering stage, limiting support methods. Tsai mentioned that he has met with cheering groups to discuss solutions.
