TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Transportation and Communication's (MOTC, 交通部) Civil Aviation Administration (CAA, 民航局) announced on Friday (Dec. 27) that reservations for flights to the outlying islands of Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu during the "228 Memorial Day" (Feb. 28) holiday will open on Dec. 30 at 9 a.m. The administration aims to manage the anticipated travel demand by making early bookings available.
The administration has scheduled 958 flights, offering a total of 73,074 seats for the holiday period. Specifically, the Penghu route will have 496 flights with 34,216 seats, the Kinmen route will offer 376 flights with 32,928 seats, and the Matsu route will provide 86 flights with 5,930 seats. Officials have urged airlines to monitor booking trends closely and to consider additional flights if necessary.
To maximize the efficiency of air transport resources, the administration reminded travelers that tickets for peak periods will come with restrictions. These tickets will be marked "valid only on the designated date and flight" and "void if expired" to ensure optimal use. As the holiday approaches, travelers should plan their itineraries accordingly and make reservations promptly.
