TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Presidential Office (總統府) on Monday (Dec. 30) unveiled the 2025 "Six Harmony and Spring" (六順和春) couplets, red envelopes, and blessing bags. President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) hand-drew dog and cat portraits for the designs, which will be available to the public from Jan. 1 to Jan. 24 at the Presidential Office and other locations.
Presidential Office Secretary-General Pan Men-an (潘孟安) announced at a press conference that renowned designer Akibo (李明道) crafted the designs, with calligrapher Chen Ji-shan (陳吉山) contributing calligraphy. The artwork features dog and cat portraits paired with three native Taiwanese plants: ivory persimmon, shell ginger, and sea hibiscus, capturing the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year.
Akibo, noted for designing albums and concert visuals for numerous artists, explained at the event that inviting Lai and Hsiao to hand-draw the colorful animal portraits symbolizes Taiwan as a vibrant, free, friendly, and warm nation, and a paradise for animal lovers.
These designs will grace red envelopes, NT$1 lucky coins, and greeting cards. The greeting cards feature concentric and radial designs symbolizing focus, vision, peace, and integration, conveying Taiwan's commitment to democracy and a shared vision for a bright future. The electronic greeting cards, now available on the Presidential Office's website, include upbeat music to bring joy throughout the year.
