TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA, 外交部) announced on Thursday (Jan. 9) that it has finalized the administrative arrangements for the Taiwanese delegation attending U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration. The MOFA emphasized that the delegation aims to represent the government and demonstrate bipartisan support for Taiwan-U.S. relations, leaving limited room for adjustments.

Earlier that day, a source from the Legislative Yuan revealed that Johnny Chiang (江啟臣), vice president of the Legislative Yuan, has been part of the discussions for the delegation's composition. This source emphasized that there is no issue of "rushing to register" for the team. President-elect Trump will take office on Jan. 20, and the eight-member legislative delegation plans to depart for the U.S. by Jan. 18.

According to the Liberty Times, MOFA received a sudden notification from the Legislative Yuan, listing Johnny Chiang as a delegation member. This late inclusion has reportedly caused some logistical challenges for overseas offices. Hsiao Kuang-wei (蕭光偉), the ministry's spokesperson, stated that the delegation, approved by the president, will be led by Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) and will include bipartisan members as per usual practice.

The ministry expressed gratitude for the participation and support of the bipartisan committee from the Legislative Yuan and pledged to work with overseas offices to ensure the delegation's mission proceeds smoothly.
