TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Acting Chairman Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) of the Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) on Tuesday (Jan. 14) for using the recall system as a political tool. He urged the party to reconsider the system's purpose, emphasizing that recalls should eliminate unfit representatives rather than serve partisan battles.

Huang highlighted the inconsistency within the DPP regarding recalls. Ker Chien-ming (柯建銘), the DPP's Legislative Yuan (立法院) caucus leader, advocated for a "comprehensive recall," while Chairman Lai Ching-te (賴清德) denied such intentions, causing public confusion. Huang demanded a unified stance from the party to avoid a two-faced strategy.

Executive Yuan (行政院) Spokesperson Michelle Lee (李慧芝) announced plans to consult experts after the defeat of the "Constitutional Court Procedure Act" (憲法訴訟法) review proposal. However, Huang dismissed her response as empty. Also, Huang denied allegations from Cheng Shu-hsin (鄭淑心) that former TPP Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) sought cooperation with the DPP, which allegedly failed due to Ker Chien-ming's reluctance.

Huang described Cheng's information as baseless, asserting Cheng played no role in the party's discussions about the legislative speaker election on Feb. 1 last year. He contended that Cheng's false claims contradicted the truth, stating that DPP members sought Ko's support, not vice versa.
