Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband returns to Taiwan after her death

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Late Taiwanese renowned actress Barbie Hsu's (徐熙媛) ex-husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei (汪小菲), rushed back to Taiwan with his current wife from Thailand on Monday (Feb. 3) night.

Following Hsu’s sister, Dee (徐熙娣) confirmation that Barbie succumbed to pneumonia complications during a family trip in Japan earlier that day, the entertainment world is mourning the loss the famed entertainer.

 

SET News (三立新聞) reported that Barbie Hsu was cremated Monday in Japan, and the family is handling the necessary paperwork before bringing her ashes back to Taiwan. Details of the memorial service remain under discussion. Her mother, May Huang (黃春梅), appealed to the media and public to respect the family's privacy, stating it was Barbie Hsu's unfulfilled wish.

Barbie Hsu rose to fame in 1994 with her sister as part of the duo S.O.S, captivating audiences with their humorous and sharp style on popular shows like "Guess Guess Guess" (我猜我猜我猜猜猜) and "100% Entertainment" (娛樂百分百).

Her role in the 2001 hit drama "Meteor Garden" (流星花園) catapulted her to stardom across Asia, earning her a Golden Bell Award (金鐘獎) nomination and recognition in countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand.
 

Her personal life drew significant attention, notably her whirlwind marriage to Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2010, with whom she had two children before their 2021 divorce. She remarried DJ Koo (具俊曄), a Korean artist and former boyfriend, in 2022. Fans of Hsu’s worldwide now await further announcements regarding her memorial service.
