TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Czech Republic announced on Sunday (Feb. 23) that Taiwanese citizens will no longer need a Work permit to enter the Czech labor market. The latest regulation will take effect in early March. Still, they must apply for a residence permit. Despite the removal of a Work permit, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic emphasizes that free access to the Czech labor market doesn't automatically grant a residence permit. Also, employers in Czech are no longer required to report job vacancies to the Ministry.
Those planning to work for more than three months must apply for a "non-dual employment card," which allows job flexibility. Highly skilled foreign professionals can apply for an "EU Blue Card," which provides better EU mobility and social benefits. Previously, Taiwanese individuals needed to secure a work permit and submit an employment contract from a Czech employer for approval. This change simplifies the employment process. The policy aims to reduce administrative burdens for employers and attract highly skilled foreign talents to Czech, including citizens from non-EU members, such as Australia and Japan, eligible for this exemption.
