According to spokesperson Tsai Shu-ching, the former Taiwanese leader accepted a personal invitation from Dalia Grybauskaitė, Lithuania's former president, to visit the Baltic nation where she will deliver remarks at the historic Vilnius University. Tsai Shu-ching emphasized Lithuania's significance as "a crucial European partner for Taiwan" that shares fundamental values of democratic governance, personal freedoms, and human rights protections. The former president's European itinerary will continue with her attendance at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit in Denmark at the invitation of the Alliance of Democracies foundation.
The Copenhagen Democracy Summit, scheduled for May 13 to 14, will convene an influential assembly of global democracy advocates, including international political leaders, technology industry executives, policy researchers from prominent think tanks, civil society representatives, and democracy activists from Hong Kong.
