TAIPEI (TVBS News) — NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce and shared his mindset for how people should engage with AI, in an exclusive interview with TVBS on Wednesday (May 21). He urged individuals to view AI as companions, assistants, and teammates to boost productivity and success.
"In order for us to grow the world's GDP, currently at US$100 trillion, to reach US$150 trillion or US$200 trillion, we're not going to be able to do that with more people," Huang stressed. Noting a global labor shortage and an aging population across borders, Huang proposed AI's application to achieve significant GDP growth without increasing the workforce.
With AI's assistance, humans could potentially drive GDP to US$200 trillion, emphasizing AI's necessity as a productive force to address labor shortages. Huang observed AI's rapid improvement over the past decade, which allows users to communicate goals directly to AI systems that can then plan, reason, and collaborate with other AI to achieve those objectives.
Huang emphasized that while AI can assist, it cannot replace human aspirations and decision-making. "My goals are my choice. If I want to go on vacation in Kyoto, it's not because the AI decided, because I decided it's my goal," Huang said.
He compared selecting different AI tools to choosing the right member of his management team for specific tasks. Huang's insights underscore AI's potential to reshape industries and personal productivity while maintaining that human direction remains essential.
