TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Labor (MOL, 勞動部) unveiled its latest occupational salary survey on Thursday (May 29), revealing that pilots earn the highest monthly salary at NT$323,000. The survey ranked actuaries second at NT$212,000, doctors at NT$180,000, professional athletes at NT$143,000, and ship supervisors, including pilots, at NT$138,000.
Annual salaries for airline pilots and actuaries topped the list, while doctors, ship supervisors, telecommunications engineers, lawyers, and professional athletes also earned over NT$1.5 million. The highest monthly salary among finance and insurance managers was NT$120,000, whereas the accommodation and catering industry offered the lowest at NT$51,000.
In the professional category, the medical, health, and social work services industry led with a monthly salary of NT$76,000. The finance and insurance industry followed closely with NT$73,000; the transportation and warehousing industry came next at NT$68,000. Basic technical and labor workers generally earned between NT$40,000 and NT$29,000, with education, publishing, audiovisual, and information and communications industries at the lower end at NT$29,000.
MOL noted that salary distribution across technical positions varies due to industry characteristics. The accommodation, catering, and education industries showed smaller salary gaps, while the transportation, warehousing, publishing, audiovisual, and information and communications industries exhibited larger disparities. This survey targeted full-time employees, both domestic and foreign, in industrial and service sectors, excluding agriculture, government, and educational institutions.
