TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A stationary front will bring sporadic showers and thunderstorms to western Taiwan and isolated rain to the east, the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported Tuesday (June 3). Authorities urged residents to stay alert to weather changes while outdoors as the front could lead to severe weather, including short-duration heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

The administration warned that heavy rain might occur in the western and Hualien regions and mountainous areas in the afternoon. Temperatures will slightly drop, with highs between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius and lows from 24 to 27°C. Offshore islands like Penghu will see temperatures from 25 to 30°C, Kinmen from 23 to 28°C, and Matsu from 22 to 25°C.

Strong southwesterly winds could affect coastal areas north of Miaoli, Green Island (綠島), Orchid Island (蘭嶼), Kinmen, and Matsu. With increased coastal wave activity, the administration noted the possibility of sustained winds exceeding level 6 or gusts over level 8. Officials advised safety precautions for seaside activities and maritime operations.

Fog or low clouds may reduce visibility in Kinmen and Matsu this morning, potentially affecting transportation. Travelers should check flight information for updates. Residents should remain vigilant and prepare for potential disruptions as the weather front continues to impact the region.
