TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Domestic air travel in Taiwan resumed on Monday (July 7) after Typhoon Danas disrupted operations. The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA, 民航局) issued a press release on Monday (July 7) that the administration coordinated 12 additional flights and deployed one aircraft with an upgraded capacity, which can be expected to transport nearly 13,000 passengers.
CAA mentioned that by 2 p.m., domestic flights had seen 144 cancellations and seven delays, while international and cross-strait routes experienced 33 cancellations and 14 delays. The administration said that it has sought support from the Ministry of National Defense (MND,國防部) to deploy military aircraft, subject to weather and operational capacity, to aid passenger transport.
All domestic flights were canceled on Sunday (July 6) due to Typhoon Danas, which prompted the Civil Aeronautics Administration to contact UNI Air (立榮) and Mandarin Airlines (華信) to boost capacity since the typhoon warning was issued on Saturday (July 5). The administration advised passengers to verify flight and seat information before heading to the airport, as weather conditions may still impact schedules.
