NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) led the grand opening of the Yellowstone Market (黃石市場) on Tuesday (July 8), marking the official launch after a five-year renovation. Established in 1970, the market holds over half a century of memories for Banqiao (板橋) residents, and Hou called this renovation a milestone in the market's transformation.

The new market, which combines hotels, medical, social welfare, and dining facilities, aims to become a vital local hub. Hou expressed gratitude to the vendors for their patience and support and promised continued efforts to improve the market environment.

Sheng Hsiao-rung (盛筱蓉), head of New Taipei's Economic Development Department (新北市經濟發展局), highlighted the transformation from a two-story old structure to a modern nine-story building with three underground levels, enhancing both structural safety and shopping quality.

Local representatives and community leaders attended the opening ceremony, which featured a lion dance and numerous promotional activities. The lively atmosphere showcased the market's impressive transformation, signaling a new era for the community.
