TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Following Typhoon Danas, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) emphasized on Wednesday (July 9) the urgency of post-typhoon recovery efforts in Taiwan's central and southern regions. The typhoon, the first this year to prompt both sea and land warnings, left a trail of destruction due to its unusual path.
President Lai expressed gratitude to frontline workers, including the military, police, firefighters, Taiwan Power Company (台電), Taiwan Water Corporation (台水), and the Highway Bureau (公路局), for assisting evacuations amid the storm. He stated that the typhoon has moved away, and central and local governments must work together to restore normalcy as soon as possible.
A day earlier, President Lai and Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) visited Tainan and Chiayi separately to assess agricultural damage and the power company's repair efforts. President Lai urged party officials to aid recovery efforts across various regions, ensuring a smooth transition back to normalcy.
As Taiwan moves forward, the collaboration between central and local authorities will be crucial in expediting recovery and minimizing the impact on daily life.
