TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR, 台灣高鐵) announced on Wednesday (July 9) plans to add five extra train services on July 25 and 26. The move aims to accommodate the surge in travelers expected for Taiwan's largest-ever recall vote. Ticket sales will open at midnight on Friday.
Officials observed high booking activity for July 25 and 26, prompting the addition of four southbound and one northbound trains to enhance passenger service. The rail service recommends travelers use the T Express (T-EX行動購票) App. Passengers can purchase same-day tickets and enter with a QR code by enabling Bluetooth in the station halls.
Passengers can also use EasyCard (悠遊卡) or iPASS Co-branded Card (一卡通聯名卡) with auto-reload features to tap in directly, reducing wait times for ticket purchases. This initiative aims to streamline the boarding process and improve travel efficiency during the busy voting period.
