TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese high jumper Fu Chao-Hsuan (傅兆玄) captured a silver medal at the World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, Friday (July 25), clearing 2.25 meters in an impressive performance. The achievement marks Fu's second consecutive silver medal at this prestigious international collegiate competition, demonstrating remarkable consistency at the highest level. Fu began his competition at 2.08 meters and methodically cleared each height through 2.25 meters on his first attempt, showcasing exceptional technique and mental composure throughout the event.
Fu attempted to surpass his season-best mark of 2.27 meters but was unsuccessful in all three attempts at that height. Israeli competitor Jonathan Kapitolnik claimed the gold medal with a dramatic successful final jump of 2.27 meters, while Australian Roman Anastasios secured bronze with his 2.20-meter clearance. Fu's silver medal performance represented a significant improvement from his previous silver-winning height of 2.20 meters at the Chengdu World University Games, demonstrating his continued athletic development on the international stage.
Fu expressed disappointment despite his impressive performance, stating his hope to bring a gold medal back to Taiwan. The athlete noted his significant recovery in form from the Asian Athletics Championships in Korea in May to reaching the finals of the World University Games.
