TAIPEI (TVBS News) — New Taipei City, Keelung, Taipei, and Taoyuan will join forces in Singapore to host a tourism promotion event from Tuesday (July 29) to Aug. 1. The four cities aim to attract tourists from Singapore and Malaysia by showcasing Taiwan's cultural allure through local specialty gifts and themed travel packages.
The four cities have prepared unique local gifts, including tea gift boxes, popcorn, handcrafted pancakes made from tofu rock, turtle-shaped peanut candies, and pineapple cakes. These items highlight Taiwan's cultural richness and serve as an invitation to explore its diverse offerings. Singaporean artist Jing Wong (黃靖倫) lent his support at the event, noting the special use of the word "Shiok" to describe the experience.
Miki, a popular influencer from Singapore and Malaysia, recently visited Taiwan to film travel shorts. Her itinerary included New Taipei's Jinshan (金山) Hot Springs, Yingge's pottery workshops, Taipei's Raohe Night Market (饒河夜市), and Keelung's Bleu&Book at TPES (太平青鳥書店).
New Taipei Tourism Bureau (觀光局) Director Yang Tsung-min (楊宗珉) praised the collaboration among the four cities. The partnership resulted in the first-ever tourism memorandum of understanding and attracted participation from over 60 businesses. The cities will introduce two main travel themes, "Deepness" and "Family," to position themselves as the top choice for Singaporean and Malaysian tourists visiting Taiwan.
