TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Nantou County will stage its inaugural National Day fireworks display Friday (Oct. 10) at 8 p.m., launching 43,885 fireworks over 40 minutes. The display at Nantou County Expo Center (南投縣會展中心) represents the highest firework count in a decade for Taiwan's national holiday celebrations. This milestone event marks the first time the central Taiwan county has hosted such a large-scale National Day celebration.

The Nantou County Government (南投縣政府), the local administrative authority, has arranged six shuttle routes to transport visitors to the fireworks venue. The shuttle services will commence at noon when traffic restrictions begin, providing mandatory transportation for all attendees. Visitors cannot access the event site independently and must utilize these designated shuttle services.

The Nantou Global Tea Expo (南投世界茶業博覽會) continues attracting tea enthusiasts through Saturday (Oct. 12) at Zhongxing New Village (中興新村), a planned administrative town. The expo features the theme "Flavorful Journeys" (「舌來韻轉」) and hosts over 300 tea farmers, merchants, and specialty shops. The International Tea Culture Exchange Hall showcases tea masters from Japan, South Korea, and India demonstrating their distinctive brewing traditions.

Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area (日月潭), Taiwan's premier alpine lake destination, provides diverse cultural experiences beyond the celebrations. Visitors can explore Syuentzang Temple (玄奘寺), Wenwu Temple (文武廟), and hiking trails including Dajhuhu (大竹湖步道) and Songbolun (松柏崙步道). These attractions create an ideal day-trip destination for seniors, blending scenic beauty with religious, historical, and ecological sites.

Nantou County's coordinated celebrations offer visitors comprehensive cultural and natural experiences during the National Day weekend. Attendees should plan for mandatory shuttle transportation and consider exploring both the tea expo and scenic attractions. The county's inaugural fireworks display, combined with ongoing cultural events, creates unprecedented tourism opportunities in central Taiwan. ◼
