TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Hsinchu City (新竹市), Taiwan's technology hub, launched the Art Festival of Siangshan Wetland (香山濕地藝術季) Thursday (Oct. 9) with the theme "Once Upon a Time by the Sea." The festival runs through Nov. 9, inviting citizens to explore wetland stories while connecting sea and land narratives through artistic expression.
Chang Chih-hsiang (張治祥), secretary-general of Hsinchu City Government, revealed five artist groups from Taiwan and France created distinctive works for the festival. The artists — Li Kuei-chih (李蕢至), Wu Hsiu-ming (吳修銘), Hsieh Yu-cheng (謝佑承), Hubert Kilian (余白), and Wu Chi (吳騏) — drew inspiration from tidal rhythms, wetland ecology, and resident memories to focus on local stories.
The Department of Economic Development, Hsinchu City Government (新竹市產發處), Taiwan's municipal economic agency, emphasized the festival integrates ecological conservation with community development. Surrounding communities host agricultural experience activities to enrich understanding of Siangshan's cultural and natural heritage, deepening public connections with the wetland environment.
The festival features an interactive "Once Upon a Time by the Sea Story Wall" on the second floor of the Siangshan Wetland Marine Conservation Education Center (海洋保育教育中心). Visitors share Siangshan experiences by writing on the wall and posting on Facebook with hashtag "#2025香山濕地藝術季#海來說," encouraging reflection on wetland relationships and broader online engagement. ◼
