TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's northeast monsoon will deliver sustained rainfall across northern regions and Yilan County through Wednesday (Oct. 29), before shifting precipitation patterns eastward by Thursday (Oct. 30). Northern Taiwan faces significant temperature drops reaching 20 degrees Celsius (68°F) starting Monday (Oct. 27).
The intensifying monsoon system brings dramatic temperature drops across northern Taiwan, with lows plummeting to 20 degrees Celsius (68°F) from Monday (Oct. 27) through Tuesday (Oct. 28). Meteorologist Liu Peiteng (劉沛滕) predicts the cold spell will continue affecting northern and northeastern regions until Thursday (Oct. 30).
Liu warns that renewed monsoon activity will deliver moisture and rainfall to regions north of Taoyuan County (桃園) and eastern Taiwan beginning Friday (Nov. 1). Weather expert Wu Shengyu (吳聖宇) notes northern Taiwan temperatures may struggle to exceed 25 degrees Celsius (77°F), with highs rarely reaching 30 degrees Celsius (86°F).
Central and southern Taiwan maintain warmer conditions with highs reaching 30 degrees Celsius (86°F) and lows around 23 degrees Celsius (73°F), creating temperature variations of 8 to 10 degrees between day and night. Residents across northern and eastern regions should prepare for substantial temperature fluctuations and potential rainfall as weather patterns shift. ◼
