TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The northeastern monsoon intensified Monday (Oct. 27), bringing persistent rainfall to northern and northeastern Taiwan through the week. "Weather Informer" (氣象報馬仔), a local weather service, forecasts brief showers as clouds and rain move eastward from southern China.
Rain continues Tuesday and Wednesday (Oct. 28-29) from Taoyuan, a northern Taiwan county, northward and in Keelung, Yilan, and Hualien, eastern coastal cities. Central and Taitung, a southeastern county, areas expect brief afternoon showers. Another monsoon wave arrives Friday (Oct. 31), affecting northern regions.
Taiwan Integrated Disaster Prevention of Technology Engineering and Consulting (台灣整合防災工程技術顧問公司) Director Chia Hsin-hsing (賈新興) analyzed weather patterns on social media platforms. He warned of substantial rain in Yilan, an eastern Taiwan county, over ten days due to the monsoon. Chia advised vigilance for tropical disturbances potentially developing into typhoons.
By Saturday night (Nov. 1), a stronger cold high-pressure system will push south, dropping temperatures to 18 to 19 degrees Celsius (64 to 66°F). Northern and northeastern Taiwan residents will experience cooler mornings and evenings. Central and southern regions will also notice significant temperature drops.
