TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Foxconn (鴻海) signed a groundbreaking healthcare AI partnership Monday (Nov. 3) with Mackay Memorial Hospital (馬偕紀念醫院) and Shiangbao Longterm Care Group (祥寶尊榮長照集團). The tripartite memorandum of understanding targets AI-powered remote healthcare solutions for Taiwan's long-term care sector as the island confronts rapid population aging challenges. The strategic collaboration aims to enhance care quality and operational efficiency through comprehensive advanced technology integration across healthcare facilities.

Foxconn's B Corporation group and digital health general manager Chiang Chih-hsiung (姜志雄) emphasized the company's strategic commitment to expanding medical robot applications in nursing and long-term care facilities to significantly reduce healthcare professional workloads. Shiangbao Longterm Care Group Chairman Lin Che-hung (林哲弘) announced that the Kangzhuang campus (康莊院區) in Taoyuan's Daxi District (大溪區) will serve as the flagship demonstration site for implementing next-generation smart long-term care technologies.

The collaboration's first phase launches at two Shiangbao Longterm Care facilities in Taoyuan and Taipei, serving approximately 250 elderly residents who will wear "CoDoctor Watch" smart health monitoring devices for continuous care. Mackay Memorial Hospital Superintendent Chang Wen-han (張文瀚) highlighted the integrated telemedicine platform's capabilities, stating it enables real-time health data exchange between facilities and reduces critical medical response times to under 12 hours.

Foxconn introduced an innovative "exoskeleton muscle strength assistance device" designed to aid caregivers in performing their duties more safely and stably, reducing lower back muscle exertion by up to 94 percent. The technology giant's comprehensive digital health ecosystem strategically integrates artificial intelligence, physiological monitoring devices, cloud computing platforms and robotic assistance technologies to realize seamless remote health management capabilities spanning "from hospital to home" care continuity.

Commerce Development Research Institute President Wang Chien-pin (王建彬) recognized the tripartite collaboration as a significant milestone in Taiwan's evolving healthcare industry landscape. Wang stated that AI-powered long-term care integration represents a growing trend across Taiwan's healthcare sector, with this memorandum of understanding marking the beginning of a transformative new era in smart long-term care delivery. ◼
