TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taichung's Hsin-she Sea of Flowers and International Flower Carpet Festival (新社花海暨台中國際花毯節) opens Saturday (Nov. 8) through Nov. 30. The festival features an 18-meter-tall and 60-meter-wide Powerpuff Girls floral arrangement as its centerpiece attraction.
Organizers invited over 300 local residents from Xinshe District (新社區) and Dongshi District (東勢區) to participate in floral creations. Taichung City Government integrated the Agricultural Marketing and Sales Exhibition in Central Taiwan (中臺灣農業行銷展售會) featuring specialty products from eight counties. The themed pavilion offers more than 200 products including fruit gift boxes and DIY mushroom kits.
This year's festival aims to surpass last year's 3.5 million visitors with organizers targeting 4 million attendees. Legislative Yuan (立法院), Taiwan's parliament, Vice President Chiang Chi-chen (江啟臣) expressed hopes for record attendance at a Tuesday (Nov. 5) press conference. The festival promotes sharing and recycling by returning flowers to communities and schools after the event.
The festival features several Powerpuff Girls-inspired art installations as Taiwan's premier floral event. Taiwan Power Company (Taipower, 台電) Dajia River Power Plant (大甲溪發電廠) collaboration includes limited-edition "Baileng popsicle" (白冷冰棒) packaging. The partnership adds commercial elements to complement the floral displays throughout the festival grounds. ◼
