TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Culture (MOC, 文化部) launched seven culturally themed tours at the opening of the ITF Taipei International Travel Fair (台北國際旅展) on Friday (Nov. 7). These tours invite travelers to rediscover the landscapes and cultural memories along the Tropic of Cancer in Taiwan. The ministry aims to offer a deeper understanding of the region's unique geography and heritage.
The tours include experiences in Chiayi and Yunlin, featuring themes such as oyster industries and Tainan's rich plains. Travelers can explore the distinct coastal and plains cultures, according to the ministry. Other tours, such as Forest Life in Alishan (阿里山), Chiayi, and the exploration of forestry development with insight into Amis (阿美族) plant wisdom.
The MOC emphasized that the Tropic of Cancer in Taiwan is more than a geographic marker. It represents a chain of natural and human relationships, transformed into tangible and thoughtful cultural tours through field research and cultural collection. At the travel fair, local teams shared regional stories, and performers like Amis Kakeng (Amis旮亙樂團) and Wu Zhou Sheng Yi Ge (五洲勝義閣掌中劇團) entertained visitors. These initiatives aim to combine diverse themes, ranging from the coastline to the mountains, and even the indigenous tribes, offering a variety of living stories beneath the island and its monsoon sweeping through.
