TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan faces cooler temperatures and increased cloudiness as a cold high-pressure system moves southward, meteorologist Wu Sheng-yu (吳聖宇) forecasted Tuesday (Nov. 25). Wu shared on Facebook that tropical depression TD30, potentially developing into Typhoon Koto (天琴), brings more clouds across the region. The northeast monsoon will slightly weaken Wednesday (Nov. 26).
Temperatures will range from 21 to 24 degrees Celsius (70 to 75°F) from Miaoli north to Yilan and Hualien Wednesday (Nov. 26). Central regions and Taitung expect highs of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius (75 to 79°F), while southern Taiwan sees 25 to 28 degrees Celsius (77 to 82°F). The cold high-pressure system strengthens the northeast monsoon Thursday (Nov. 27), increasing windward rainfall.
The high-pressure system weakens Friday as it shifts eastward, reducing windward rainfall and bringing overcast conditions. The northeast monsoon significantly weakens over the weekend, with winds shifting east and drier conditions prevailing. Temperatures rise to 23 to 24 degrees Celsius (73 to 75°F) in the north and northeast, 26 to 27 degrees Celsius (79 to 81°F) centrally and east, and 28 to 29 degrees Celsius (82 to 84°F) in the south. ◼
