TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Chinese Taipei delegation (中華代表團) achieved its best-ever result at the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, securing 13 gold, 14 silver, and 13 bronze medals. Minister of Sports (MOS, 運動部) Lee Yang (李洋) hosted a banquet Monday (Dec. 15) to welcome the team home and praise their exceptional achievements. The 5th Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games (杜拜2025亞洲帕拉青年運動會) concluded Saturday (Dec. 13) after four days of competition in the United Arab Emirates. The Chinese Taipei team earned a total of 40 medals across five sports.

Lee thanked the athletes and delegation members for their hard work and raised a toast to welcome the young athletes home safely. The minister emphasized that the medal count serves only as a reference, hoping for improvements in the sports environment to encourage greater participation. The Chinese Taipei team competed in table tennis, badminton, swimming, athletics, and boccia at the quadrennial Games for para athletes aged 12 to 23.

Sixteen-year-old swimmer Yeh Feng-yuan (葉豐源) made a significant contribution by winning four gold medals for the Chinese Taipei team. Yeh expressed confidence in competing in next year's Nagoya Asian Para Games after his standout performance in Dubai. The swimmer, who began training at age 3, participated in his first international event and won gold in the 200-meter medley despite competing in Class 12, a category for athletes with visual impairments. ◼
