TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Four Taiwanese political parties announced on Tuesday (Dec. 16) that they were united to form Taiwan Go Go (台灣前進陣線), aiming to maximize their influence in the 2026 local elections while avoiding overlapping electoral districts. The New Power Party (時代力量), Taiwan Obasan Political Equality Party (小民參政歐巴桑聯盟), Green Party Taiwan (台灣綠黨), and Taiwan Statebuilding Party (台灣基進) announced this strategic alliance at a press conference on Tuesday morning.
New Power Party Chairwoman Claire Wang (王婉諭) highlighted the severe political polarization in Taiwan over the past 18 months, stating that the People's Party failed to become a balancing third force after the 2024 elections, exacerbating the confrontation between the ruling and opposition camps. She emphasized the need for a genuine third force to mediate the political system, unite Taiwan against external threats, and supervise governance from central to local levels.
The alliance, according to Taiwan Statebuilding Party Chairman Wang Hsing-huan (王興煥), had been collaborating since April last year. They participated in activities like the Bluebird Movement (青鳥) and major recalls to counter the chaos of the blue-white political landscape, positioning themselves as a new choice for the third force.
Green Party Co-Convener Kan Chung-wei (甘崇緯) expressed willingness to cooperate with like-minded partners, describing the alliance as a deep collaboration built on shared values. He noted their commitment to promoting labor and housing justice, gender equality, environmental protection, and energy transformation.
