TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (台南市長黃偉哲) announced the upcoming Longci Light Festival (龍崎光節) on Tuesday (Dec. 16) at a promotional press conference. The event, held at Huxingshan Park (虎形山公園) in the city's Longci District (龍崎區), marks the seventh iteration of the festival. Organizers have invited both domestic and international artists to create 14 installations nestled within the forest, according to a press release.

Mayor Huang emphasized that the festival aims not only to showcase art but also to highlight Longci's unique industries and cultural heritage. Huang Ya-ling (台南市文化局長黃雅玲), director of Tainan's Cultural Affairs Bureau (文化局), noted that this year's festival features oversized artworks, offering visitors a fresh perspective on the forested landscape. Curator Tung Yu-chien (董宇茜) reiterated the festival's theme, "Call of the Wild Woods," emphasizing the mountain's allure.

Tainan's Cultural Affairs Bureau (文化局) said that the art festival will run from Dec. 25 to March 1. The event will host numerous international artists for extended residency projects. The bureau also highlighted the main lantern, which uses large-scale digital light and shadow to create a breathing forest guardian image, alongside an enhanced luminous trail.

This year also introduces a new shuttle bus line connecting Shanxi Temple (山西宮) and Guanmiao Bus Station (關廟轉運站). This new line will be added to the existing shuttle bus service between Wenheng Temple (文衡殿) and the Huxingshan exhibition area. The service will offer three round-trip slots across five Saturdays, improving accessibility for visitors.
