TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The 2026 Taipei Camellia Show (台北茶花展) opened on Friday (Jan. 16) at the Floriculture Experiment Center (花卉試驗中心), inviting visitors to explore the theme "Camellias in Bloom" through a blend of natural landscapes, horticultural aesthetics, and artistic creations. The event, scheduled to run until Jan. 25, showcases Taiwan's rich camellia breeding and gardening techniques, according to an announcement.
The Floriculture Experiment Center boasts Taiwan's oldest camellia garden, housing over 300 camellia varieties and providing an ideal environment for these blossoms. The "Republic of China Camellia Society" (中華民國茶花學會) and the "Taiwan Camellia Breeding Association" (台灣茶花育種學會) are presenting their latest cultivars, highlighting Taiwan's advances in camellia breeding.
During the exhibition, the 3E Art Association of Taiwan (台灣3E美術會) is enriching the event with diverse artistic expressions centered around camellias, adding layers of cultural and artistic depth. A newly designed "Misty Camellia Garden" creates a dreamlike atmosphere for flower viewing, with fog and plant arrangements that entice visitors to appreciate the camellias up close.
For the first time, the opening day featured a collaboration with the Asia Fragrance Institute (亞洲香研所) to introduce a "Spring Fragrance Room," where scents guide visitors through the layers of the natural environment. Throughout the exhibition, several promotional activities are planned, including camellia-cutting and grafting courses, during which experts share knowledge on camellia cultivation and breeding. On weekends, the camellia seedling giveaway allows visitors to exchange receipts for camellia seedlings, with all receipts donated to charitable organizations.
Cheng Pei-chia (程培嘉), deputy director of the Public Works Department (工務局), expressed hope that the Taipei Camellia Show will connect citizens with the changing seasons and the land's emotions through a blend of natural aesthetics, culture, and sustainability. The Floriculture Experiment Center opens daily at 8 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m., while the indoor exhibition hall operates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
