TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) gathered Taiwan's top technology executives Saturday for a dinner marking full production of the company's latest AI processors. The gathering, which local media dubbed the "Trillion-Dollar Banquet," brought together semiconductor and electronics industry leaders whose companies hold combined market valuations exceeding NT$1 trillion (around US$31.6 billion). The event underscored Taiwan's critical role in the global AI supply chain.
TSMC Chairman C.C. Wei (魏哲家), Foxconn Chairman Young Liu (劉揚偉), and Quanta Computer Chairman Barry Lam (林百里) attended the dinner. More than two dozen other semiconductor and electronics industry leaders joined them at Juan Yao Restaurant (磚窯古早味懷舊餐廳) in Taipei's Songshan District. This marked the fourth time Huang has hosted his key supply chain partners at the same traditional Taiwanese restaurant.
Huang arrived at approximately 5:50 p.m. local time and told reporters that 2026 would be "an extremely significant year" for Nvidia. The company's Grace Blackwell architecture has entered full mass production, he said, while the next-generation Vera Rubin platform is beginning production. Market demand is running "very, very high," Huang added, explaining why he wanted to thank his manufacturing partners in person.
During media interviews, Huang declared that "AI has really become useful" and that the technology has reached a commercial turning point. AI language models now generate revenue, he said, a capability they lacked the previous year when the technology "was not smart enough" to have commercial value. Huang emphasized that this shift represents a transformative moment for the entire artificial intelligence industry.
Other executives attending included Delta Electronics Chairman Ping Cheng (鄭平), MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai (蔡力行), and ASUSTeK Chairman Jonney Shih (施崇棠). Pegatron Chairman Tung Tzu-hsien (童子賢) and Wistron Chairman Simon Lin (林憲銘) also joined the gathering. Leaders from Compal, Inventec, Wiwynn, Acer, MSI, and other major Nvidia suppliers attended, representing a comprehensive cross-section of Taiwan's critical technology manufacturing sector.
The gathering took place on the third day of Huang's four-day visit to Taiwan. He arrived Thursday by private jet and met with TSMC founder Morris Chang (張忠謀) for dinner that evening. On Friday, Huang visited Nvidia's new Nangang office and attended the company's Taiwan year-end party, known locally as "weiya." He then hosted Saturday's banquet for his key manufacturing partners.
Huang disclosed he would dine with TSMC executives on Sunday before departing Taiwan. The specific topics of discussion for that meeting were not announced. The dinner will cap a visit highlighting Nvidia's deepening ties with Taiwan's semiconductor industry. Global demand for AI chips continues to surge, reinforcing the island's central role in the technology supply chain. ◼ (At time of reporting, US$1 equals approximately NT$31.60)
