TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) concluded his extended Taiwan visit on Sunday (Feb. 1) with a private dinner alongside top Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, 台積電) executives. The AI chip giant's leader praised 2025 as a record-breaking year for both companies and their Taiwanese supply chain partners. Huang extended his originally planned four-day trip to fit in two additional meetings before departing Monday morning.

TSMC's top leadership attended the nearly three-hour dinner at the private venue Zou Ji Shi Pu (鄒記食舖). Chairman C.C. Wei (魏哲家), Deputy COO Cliff Hou (侯永清), Senior VP of Human Resources Lora Ho (何麗梅), and CFO Wendell Huang (黃仁昭) arrived before the Nvidia chief. A large crowd of media and fans greeted Huang, who smiled and expressed surprise at the attention his whereabouts had drawn.

Huang declared 2025 a historic year for both Nvidia and TSMC during the gathering. "Last night, I had dinner with CEOs of all of my partners, and they all have record years," Huang stated. "Everyone had record years, and I'm so happy for them." The CEO revealed that almost every partner company achieved record-breaking results.

Huang expressed enthusiasm about Nvidia's planned headquarters in the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park (北士科), a major tech hub in northern Taipei. "The signing is easy. I hope it gets finalized. I'm really excited about the headquarters," he explained. "We need a much larger facility here because we're hiring so many people." The project signals Nvidia's expanding commitment to Taiwan's semiconductor ecosystem.

Huang dismissed foreign media reports claiming Nvidia planned to invest US$100 billion (around NT$3.16 trillion) in OpenAI. "We never said we were going to invest a hundred billion dollars in one round," Huang said. "They invited us to invest up to a hundred billion dollars, and of course, we were very happy and honored."

Before departing, Huang distributed wheel pie, a popular Taiwanese street snack, to fans and reminded the crowd to dress warmly. The gesture showcased his appreciation for the enthusiastic reception during his visit. Originally planning a four-day stay, Huang extended his trip until Monday morning to accommodate two additional meetings with industry partners, underscoring the importance of Taiwan's semiconductor ecosystem to Nvidia's global operations. ◼ (At time of reporting, US$1 equals approximately NT$31.60)
