Here's why Taiwan's weather will be a mess next week (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) warned Friday (March 27) that unstable weather will affect Taiwan through early April, with potential heavy rain and strong winds from Tuesday to Thursday (March 31-April 2). WeatherRisk (天氣風險), a private forecasting company, predicted a front will increase rainfall in eastern regions on Saturday. Central and southern regions will see scattered afternoon mountain showers but mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.

The CWA predicted a shift from the northeast monsoon to southerly winds on Sunday (March 29) and Monday (March 30), reducing rain and raising temperatures by about 6 degrees Celsius (10.8°F) in northern areas and Yilan. Central and southern regions, along with Hualien and Taitung, will see a 1 to 3-degree Celsius (1.8 to 5.4°F) increase. The agency warned that the transition period between cold and warm air masses could lead to sudden weather changes.

The northeast monsoon will keep northern and Yilan temperatures cool, ranging from 18 to 24 degrees Celsius (64.4 to 75.2°F), while central and southern areas could exceed 30 degrees Celsius (86°F) during the day. Looking ahead to the Qingming Festival, Taiwan's annual tomb-sweeping holiday in early April, forecasters expect a high chance of rain due to a lingering front and moisture from southern China. The CWA advised the public to plan for potential weather disruptions and to monitor updates.

The agency urged residents to stay updated on the latest forecasts amid possible shifts in conditions. ◼
